Biography

Dr. Abhishek Kathuria is an Assistant Professor of Information Systems at the Indian School of Business (ISB). His research, teaching, and consulting interests lie at the intersection of technology and strategy. 

His research examines digital transformation and the business value of IT, focusing on innovation, digital platform strategies, and emerging economies. His work has been published in premier research journals and received multiple best paper nominations and awards at various academic conferences.  

Dr. Kathuria teaches the core course on Strategies for the Digital Economy in the flagship Post Graduate Programme in Management (MBA) at the ISB. Previously, he has taught Information Management, Technology Entrepreneurship, IT Strategy, Analytics, and System Design in BBA, MBA, and Executive MBA programs in the US, Hong Kong, and China.

He is also a Director with Actuate Business Consulting – India’s oldest boutique management consulting firm, which provides advisory and consulting services on Business Performance Improvement, Technology & Innovation Management and Enterprise Value Creation. Dr. Kathuria has consulted on business & digital transformations, organizational turnarounds, growth strategy, organization restructuring, IT governance and IT strategy with large & medium sized enterprises in Hong Kong, India and the Middle East.

Dr. Kathuria has served as an advisor to multiple startups in India and Hong Kong and is an active angel investor, with interests in several emergent market leaders. He is the co-founder of Kowrk.com, a global platform to connect users with shared office spaces.

Prior to joining the ISB, Dr. Kathuria served as an Innovation and Information Management faculty at The University of Hong Kong. He holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration (specialization in Information Systems) from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University, a graduate degree in management from the Indian Institute of Management Indore, an undergraduate degree in information technology and several professional certifications.
